Custom colors for drawings

Q

Is it possible to add custom colors to Word palette for drawings? So far I
have learned that Word allows to make new Theme colors - that's fine, but
Themes apply to visual style of the document and its structure - like
headers, paragraphs etc. It has nothing to do with the logic of the document
contents, especially with the logic of drawings.

For example, no matter which Theme suits my visual liking, I need to draw
arrows. An Up Arrow must always be green and there must be 3 shades of green,
depending on the Arrow logic. Down arrow must always be red, etc, there are
vertical and horizontal lines and many other elements, where the color
expresses their meaning, and is independent of the Theme.

So I picked up a light green for my Arrow Up as the contour color and after
some time the arrow became blue - it was because the colors of the Theme
colors matrix are linked to the document Theme, and I just changed the Theme..

So how to manage this problem? Standard 256 colors from the Word palette are
a partial solution, I don't really like them but well, if there is no other
choice, its more comfortable to click than to type in RGB each time.

Is it possible to predefine a custom color palette to use with drawings,
independent of the Theme palette? Or maybe there is an add-on or something
other that would allow me to define my colors and somehow pick them up in
Word. I have a "Just Color Picker" freeware that copies to clipboard my
currently clicked color, but it is not possible to paste it into Word custom
color RGB number, because the RGB are in 3 separate fields.

You could save sample arrows as Quick Parts (building blocks) and then
modify them as needed upon insertion.

While it is not exactly what I need for my particular project, it is a good
workaround. Additionally, the Quick Parts are an interesting concept
themselves, thank you for the tip!

In an earlier version, I would have suggested AutoText entries, and you can
save the arrows as AutoText building blocks. Give them distinctive names and
you can quickly insert them by typing the first few characters of the entry
name and pressing F3.
