Custom Data Markers?

Does anyone know if it is possible to add custom data markers? Say if I
wanted to use a "$", or a character from charmap, in place of squares,
circles or triangles.

As long as you have a graphic file with the image needed, you can make
anything a marker by just copying the image over the Excel marker.
