Custom enterprise fields: edit lookup values not showing?

We created Custom enterprise fields with edit lookup tables.

But in a Gantt view, when we inserted such a field as a column, the
drop-down arrow was grayed out. We could not select the values from the
lookup tables for the custom fields.

Any idea what we did wrong?

Hall:

The reasons I can think of:

1. You're not connected to the Project Server
2. You customized the field and tried to use it in the same session without
first closing and restarting Project Pro
