Custom Field - Endless loop

I had definined a lookup table in the Global Enterprise, Custom Outline Code, which returned a numerical value in my view. I wanted the number to be associated with a project status code (Charter approved, PIP approved) instead of the numerical value (as this would have more meaning to the executive viewer and approval body). I was using another Enterprise custom field to lookup the Outline Code and then using a Choose() function to convert the number to the text value. The syntax was fine (as the value was accepted); however, when we saved the Global file out and restarted Project Professional to view the new field values, we are now stuck in an endless loop where the application keeps shutting down and prompting us to send an error report

Help! Is there a workaround?
