Custom Field lookup to Resources

Eric

In sharepoint we can create fields that can look up to existing fields like
the users in the site.

Can we do that in Project Server? I want to create an Enterprise Project
Text field similar to the Author Field and call it as "Project Owner". It
will contain all the persons in the Resource Center and put it in a drop down
list.

I can create it by putting all the resources in the Value List of the custom
field but it will be only static.

In other words is there a way to create a custom feild similar to the Author
Field???

Thanks in Advance!

You can create an outline code field that shares the outline code of another
field, but I know of no default method to accomplish what you wish. Sorry.

Hi Dale,

Thanks for the reply. The reason i wanted to create the "Project Owner"
field is because we have difficulty in putting the Project Owner entity in
our RBS since a single person can be a project owner in a different project.

Our RBS looks like this:

Company
->Project 1
-> Team Lead
-> Team Member
->Project 2
-> Team Lead
-> Team Member

And based on what we know we can't set mulitple values of RBS for a single
Person. So we decided to just create an enterprise field for project owner.

BTW from a previous post of yours: "Mulitple Enterprise Codes"

http://communities2.microsoft.com/c...3-f612-4da2-acb8-fda8f850d645&exp=&sloc=en-us

You mentioned of an MV version of an enterprise field. Does it apply to RBS?
Can you give me a simle example on creating one.

Thanks Again.

Only enterprise Resource outline codes 20-29 are MV fields. The RBS field
is not MV. If you folks are using the RBS field for Project Server
security, the RBS outline code should mimic the reporting structure of your
company. Once you have set up the RBS field, you will set an RBS value for
each resource in the Enterprise Resource Pool file to show "who reports to
whom." Hope this helps.
