Custom Field Names and Values

HI,

I am looking to set up a number of groups based on a colleagues skill set,
such as SQL DBA, and to assign a number of users to that group.

Can this be done within PS07? I couldn't find anything on Technet

You can use generic resources and custom fields to achieve this in Project
Server 2007.

Create a resource custom field and associate it to a lookup table which
contains a list of skills. Ensure you tick the "Match Generic Resources"
radio button when you create the custom field.

Create a generic resource, eg SQL DBA and add the skill from the custom
field to the generic resource.

Add the same skill to named resources.

When creating a plan you can assign tasks to generic resources, which can
then be matched to named resources at a later date.

Hi There,

Many thanks for this, it has helped me out for most of my requirements.

One thing I notice though is when you assign the skill to the named
resources you can only select one of the skills avaialble from the lookup
table.

Is there a way of assigning named resources more than one skill?

Sorry if I have misunderstood your comments. I'm quite new to PS2007 and
only have the MS documentation and the msprojectexperts latest book for
guidance.
