Custom Fields

HELP ME PLEASE!
I have a few custom fields (number, text & cost) that my customer requires,
but now want to link Duration.
For example, I enter a value of 20 in a custom field, and want that to
become 20 days in the Duration field. The simplest way would be to enter a
formula in teh duration field, which I am unable to achieve.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Rhys

You cannot create formulas in the default fields that ship with Microsoft
Project, which is why you cannot enter a formula in the Duration field. The
only way to handle this would be to write a macro in VBA that adjusts the
Duration field according to the value entered in the custom field. Hope
this helps.

Thanks Dale.
I was leaning towards that anyway - but:
It should be possible ( a lot of work, I know) to modify the Gantt Chart to
display only the custom fields. What would the impact of this be on Project's
calculations in respect of overall duration, costs, work, etc?
Thanks,
Rhys

Why don't you create a custom task Table that contains the fields you want
to see, including both default and custom fields? Click View - Table - More
Tables. Select the Entry table and click the Copy button. Give the new
Table a unique name and then include the columns you want to see. Hope this
helps.
