Custom Properties do not display when Visio 2000 saved as Visio 5

I use shapes that were created using Visio 5 in drawings
created in Visio 2000. These shapes display custom
property fields. The problem occurs when the Visio 2000
file is saved as a Visio 5 file. The custom property
fields no longer display. Is there a quick fix?
