Custom Property Sets

In visio 2003 I want to be able to have excel/access control what goes into my custom property sets. Now that the network features are gone in visio, I have to find a better way to document the network. Fluke networks tool "Lan Mapshot" is okay but not great. How do I allow all of my data entering to be done in access/excel and automatically be updated in Visio? Maybe the database link option? I guess what i am trying to say is, the custom property sets in Visio are the worst part of the Visio program. VERY poorly written. I want excel/access to be able to handle my proptery sets and have Visio update them. If you have any sugestions I would reallly appreciate it! THANKS!

How are your VB/VBA skills? Integration among the tools can be really
interesting.

Try using the Import Data wizard.
Tools > Add-Ons > Run Add-On and pick "Import Data".
Select the "Add as custom properties" option and continue through the
wizard.

Later, after you edit your database you can update the shapes with:
Tools > Add-Ons > Run Add-On and pick "Refresh Data".
