Custom Styles

I created a custom style for my documents but I can only
access while I'm in that document. ie. I can only use the
style when I'm in the same document I was in when I
created the style. If I go to a different document, the
new style doesn't appear on the style list.

However, if I create a brand new document (Ctrl+N), I am
able to access the style. So I'm able to access the
style in a new document, but not in an existing one.

Any ideas? Thanks!

When you save the style to the template, you make it available to new
documents but not to existing ones, which are cut off from the template at
the moment of creation.

Thanks! It wasn't the answer I was hoping for, but at
least now I know I'm not an idiot because I couldn't make
it work. :)

You can make them available by using the Organizer (under Tools) to copy
them into the old doc. Or I frequently Insert | File the old doc into a new
doc that includes the styles, as I find that easier, plus gives me a backup
copy.
