Customize Colors

A client as introduced new "identity standards" which mandates that all
company materials use the official company colors.

We are trying to figure out if we can adjust the font and cell fill color
options in Excel to match their PMS colors.

My contact at the client claims there is a way to do this with Excel for
Windows (via the Properties control), but I can't find a way on the Mac.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Yes. Try this:

Open a document that has the company's standard colors in it. Ideally,
open a document where the colors are on a palette.

Go to the Excel menu, go to "Preferences," and go to "Color."

Click on "Modify."

When the window comes up, click on the magnifying glass in the
upper-left corner.

Move the magnifying glass to where the first color is that you want to
sample.

The color should then show up in the rectangle directly to the right of
the magnifying glass.

When it does, look at the bottom of the window. You'll see a grid.
Click on the rectangle that has the color you want, and drag that to the
grid below. That way, you can "save" that color to your custom palette.

Be careful when you do it, though. When you save that custom color to
your palette, watch what color in the Excel palette you overwrite.

Almost forgot. It only affects the active workbook. So it won't screw
up your Excel permanently. :)
