customize template libary tab box

Is there anyway to hide some of the tabs in the template libary dialogue
box? I am setting up templates for users at work. There are way too many
tabs which are visually distracting and which contain templates we never
use.

Lee,

I assume you mean the template window that comes up from the open
office icon that normally appears on the top of the start bar.

We have played with it and have found a few ways to do it but it
depends on what type of OS system/network you are running.

The simple way is if you run these directories off the hard drive of
each computer. The templates directory is just a set of folders the
shortcut points to and displays as tabs. We have in the past simply
deleted the folders causing the tabs to go. MS keeps changing the
location of the templates folder but it shouldn't be too hard to find.

On our school network (NT4 Server/ Win98 workstations...we are a poor
school and as yet can't afford anything better) we use profiles and
policies. Via policies we direct all of our users, based on our
login/security rights, to automatically use a custom templates
directory stored on our server. Teachers see one set of templates,
office staff/admin see another and students see another complete set.
Works well but takes a bit of time and planning to get it right.

The first may be the quick solution but the later is far superior whe
it comes to managing it as there is on ever a single set of templates
the users have access to.

Hope these ideas help.
