Customize Web Access

Is there a way to remove the ability for a user to hide,
reject, insert notes, link documents, etc from the
timesheet view. How customizable is the timesheet view
for MS Project Server 2002 Web Access? Would 2003 make
this customization easier? I need to be able to
customize what columns that can be seen as well and show
all the tasks. Basically I need to be able to dumb
down the Web access interface to prevent users from doing
things they shouldn't be able to do. Is editing the ASP
files out of the question that come standard out of the
box?

Thanks!

To answer your questions:

1. Your Project Server administrator can deny permissions for many of the
features you mention, except for rejecting tasks. Personally, I don't
understand why you wouldn't want people to be able to add task Notes for
project documentation purposes.

2. In Project Server 2002, our project managers can customize the timesheet
by publishing additional fields to the timesheet, such as the Baseline Start
field, for example. Each user can change the order of the columns in the
timesheet by "dragging and dropping" but there is no way for the Project
Server administrator to set the column order by default. The default fields
on the timesheet cannot be removed. In Project Server 2003, the Project
Server administrator can control the columns that are displayed, as well as
the order of the columns and the width of each column.

3. Personally, I think that your company needs to establish a standard
methodology for progress reporting by team members, train everyone how to
use it correctly, and then hold accountable those who do not follow the
system. I don't think "dumbing down" the system is a viable option for a
Project Server implementation.

Hope this helps.
