Customized PPT Template

i created a customized ppt template with .potx and copied to the right folder but it does not work when i try to create a new ppt file by right click>new>Microsoft Powerpoint presentation file, but when i create new file from menu file>new then it creates new file with customized template. i am using office 2010. can we create new file with our customized template by right click>new>microsoft powerpoint presentation?
