Our company employees often receive large email attachments for construction
projects they work on. To alleviate space concerns on our Exchange server,
they are encouraged to use the Outlook Bar to create shortcuts to email
folders out on our network server. They then drag and drop messages from
their Inbox to these email shortcut folders to move them.
When the email shortcut is selected in the Outlook bar, the messages that
were dragged there display on the right side, under the following columns:
Name, Author, Type, Size, Modified, Keywords. The problem is that they need
to see who the message is FROM, and the SUBJECT. The Field Chooser is
limited in that no From field exists in it, and the Subject field is blank if
added to the existing columns. The Author field is also blank. I tried
creating a User Defined field, but the New button is grayed out.
While we are saving space on our Exchange Server, this method frustrates
users because they need to be able to quickly glance at a series of related
messages and tell who they are from. Thanks!
