customizing outlook webmail interface

Hello.

An acquaintance is using the new outlook webmail on a somewhat antiquated
netbook that has rather limited space on screen to display things.

Somehow outlook insists on dividing the screen in three areas,
with a list of emails in the middle as follows:

So on the left is a list of folders containing the emails, in the middle
is a list of emails and on the right is something which seems rather superfluous and unwanted.

I'm not sure it displays ads, it seems related to social networks or something, similar to the area on the right in this screenshot:

When I hover the mouse over the dividing line between the folders and the list of emails, I get a double arrow, allowing me to adjust the division to the left or right. But this doesn't work for the dividing line between the list of
emails and the area on the right side.

Since there is such limited screen estate on the laptop, what I'd really like to do is toggle off the right unwanted section. But I can't find any option in the settings to turn it off.

Is there any way to turn it off or get rid of it?

It's very annoying, because due to this silly way of dividing up the interface, one can't even see the subject of the emails listed.

Also, the weird thing is that I use outlook webmail myself as well, and somehow I don't get this additional area on the right side for some mysterious reason (so I only get the list of folders on the left and a list of my emails on the right).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
