Customizing WSS Site template for Project Server

R

Rohan

Hi,

Can we customize the WSS template for Project Server. One of our clients is
requesting a standard look and feel and a set of folders to appear
automatically once a new project is published. They want to follow PMI
standards and setup folder structure accordingly.

Can I alter the WSS site template ? What will be the impact ?

Thanks

This is a wonderful document and helps me as well. However, one thing
worried me. The Warning: "Changing some field values, such as "status" in
Risks, can cause malfunctions in program logic."

How do I find which field values should NOT be changed? I looked in the SDK
but couldn't find any information that identified those fields. Thanks, annem

I'm not an expert on the WSS integration with Project Server. Therefore, I
would suggest that you post this question as a new question to let our
technical experts take a stab at it.

Yes, whether you are using MSPS 2003 or MSPS 2007, you can follow certain
steps to modify an existing site into any new template you want and then
make that template the default one used for any new sites.

You can also have content and folder structures in document libraries as
part of this new template but there is a size limit to how much of this
content will save to the template.

Also, any changes you make to your site template will not propogate to
existing sites, they will only apply to new sites. This will cause
inconsentancies in your sites down the road. There is no automated way to
push these changes out to existing sites.
