I cut some information then decided I wanted to delete it. I can only paste.

Chris' reply is all you need - once it is cut, it's cut/removed/deleted -
but if it will make you feel better, go ahead & paste, then select what you
pasted & press the Delete key.

Or select a single character and copy it to replace the cut material on the
Clipboard.
