cut-copy-paste in toolbar

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Intel I would like to have toolbar icons for cut/copy/paste functions, which existed in Office 2004. Is this no longer a possibility in the 2008 version? I use those functions a lot and to have to access the pull-down menu every time will be a complete drag.

I don't know about the Toolbar, but take note you can use these keys:
cmd-x: cut
cmd-v: paste
cmd-v: copy

Keys often quicker than even the toolbars (since one has to take hand
off keyboard, find mouse, find cursor, point cursor, click cursor).

I don't know about the toolbar, but the keys may be faster:
cmd-c: copy
cmd-v: paste
cmd-x: cut

Faster than mouse to push toolbar (keys off keyboard, find mouse on
desk, wiggle mouse to find cursor, point cursor at toolbar, etc.)

While I agree with Rob about keyboard shortcuts being more efficient,
you asked for toolbar icons, and here's how you can get them back:

Ctrl-/right-click your toolbar, then choose Customize Toolbars and Menus
from the contextual menu. Switch to the Commands tab, click on Edit,
then drag the commands you want from the Commands list to the toolbar.
When you are done, click on OK, and you should have your toolbar icons back.

Hi Bob,

these three buttons are indeed no longer part of the default Standard
toolbar in Word 2008. They need to be added manually, so resetting the
toolbar won't work.

I am not entirely sure why they got removed; I should think that most
non-technical users rely on these toolbar buttons quite extensively.

From another perspective: The icons you're looking for are an integral part
of the Standard Toolbar, so they should already be available by default.
Although a button has been known to go AWOL from time to time it's unlikely
for all three to disappear at the same time. My guess is that you aren't
seeing the Standard Toolbar, itself.

Use the View> Toolbars menu to make sure Standard is checked. If it is and
you still don't see the bar [it includes New, Open, Save, etc.] then you're
most likely another victim of Apple's "minimize toolbar area" button ‹ the
oval device at the right end of the document window's Title Bar. Click that
button& see if it doesn't expose what you think is missing.

If the buttons are actually missing from the Standard Toolbar follow
Michel's direction to get into the Customize window. Rather than dragging
the buttons, first go to the Toolbars page, click the name of the Standard
Toolbar, then click the Reset button. If that doesn't restore them, follow
the remainder of his suggestion to replace the buttons on the bar.

By Golly, you're right :) It's been so long ago that I forgot I had added
them myself... I knew I had added the Paste Special button & a few others
but I guess I had just taken for granted those having been there.
