Damaged database recurring message

Hi,

I'm on a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.5.6 and Office 2004, Entourage 11.4.0.
I have been using this system without any problems for about 1 year, but
recently I have begun seeing the "Your Office database is damaged. You need
to rebuild" message.

So far I have taken the following steps:
1. Rebuilt the database. After a few days I began receiving the message
again.
2. Deleted large amounts of video and other files from hard drive. Currently
have about 12GB available.
3. Deleted the preference file "com.microsoft.OfficeNotifications.plist".
4. Verified disk permissions and repaired them.
5. Ran the database utility, which generated a file with the following:
"ERROR: BlockID #22 is not a deleted block and is in the deleted block list"
I did not take any action after seeing this result.

Thus far I have not noticed any problems other than this recurring message.
I would appreciate any help that anyone can provide.

Thanks,
Kent

These two problems can also cause this error. I would guess it is #2.

1) Bad RAM.
2) Being low on disk space. To check your disk space, use the Activity
Monitor. Click on Disk Usage in the bottom menu bar and select the volume
where you have Office installed. You can also use Disk Utility to see
detailed information about a disk or volume. To learn more, open Disk
Utility in the /Applications/Utilities folder and refer to Disk Utility
Help.

You need a minimum of 10% free space.

Seasonal Greetings!

Thanks Diane. I have almost 12GB free out of 110GB...so perhaps this is the
problem. The next problem is knowing where to free up space...in order to
identify good candidates for deletion, should I be looking at "real memory"
or "virtual memory"?

Can you provide any rules of thumb on where I should look to delete?

Thanks again!
Kent

See this page for suggestions. At the bottom are some applications that
help. WhatSize is good and it's easy to use.

Remember the good old days when 110 GB was considered big. :)

The best thing is your data is probably safe.
