Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I have an excel file that I can't open because it says that it is damaged. Is there any way to fix it so that it can be opened, or to use an older version of the file?

Hi, the first thing you can check is whether your Office 2008 has updated to 12.2.4. SP2 introduced some corrupted file recovery. If it still won't open, try using WinXL to open and resave it. Feel free to send me ([email protected]) a copy of your corrupted workbook if you don't have WinXL at hand.

Thanks,

A friend of mine encountered the same problem last month, she said she used an excel recovery tools to fix her damaged xls file, she said it called Advanced Excel Repair, you can google for it, or just visit its homepage: http://www.datanumen.com/aer/recovery.htm

Hope this helps you~
