Dashes in part #'s are not found in search

I have frontpage 2003 and I have part #'s that all have dash marks in them.
When I do a search on the site it does not find the whole part number. I
need to find out how to possibly change the code so that the FP search engine
identifies the whole part # including dashes.

There is nothing to change, but there are certain characters that are excluded from searches.
