Data Graphics Font & Width

Hi,

I am a newcomer to Visio, but have recently been experimenting with
Visio 2007. I'm impressed with it so far - within half an hour of use
I had managed to create a reasonably complex diagram of an Ethernet
network, linked data from a database to the Visio shapes, and
displayed the data using data graphics. My problem came when trying
to change the default size of the data graphics. They scale with the
shapes themselves, so if I enlarge a shape, the associated data
graphic scales accordingly. I'm guessing that there is a formula
somewhere that controls the scale of the data graphic, and its minimum
and maximum sizes.

I would like to make the default data graphics wider, and have them
use a smaller font. For example, the IP Address data field wraps onto
two lines, splitting the IP Address in two. I would like this to be
displayed on one line. I can do this on a shape by shape basis by
opening the Format menu, then selecting Behavior... > Selection and
changing it from Group Only to Members First. The individual elements
of the data graphic can then be edited. This seems like a very
cumbersome way of doing it.

I have also tried Edit Master Shape under Masters in the Drawing
Explorer. Here, I can resize the data graphic, and change the font
sizes. I have tried this both graphically, and by modifying various
values in the ShapeSheet fields. None of these approaches has any
effect on either existing data graphics in the Visio diagram, or newly
inserted shapes with data graphics. The master shape retains the
changes.

I am sure that I am missing something obvious, but after two days of
searching Google, and modifying every setting I can think of, I have
had to concede defeat. Is there a simple way of doing this? Can
anyone help?
