Data lookup

You have given WAY too little information to help you.
why cant the sort happen on the original page? How many
subsorts are needed? Most likely you dont need macros at
all. But will need more info. A sampling of the data and
cell range references are the best way to get help faster.

will be glad to help with more info.

sample of data:

Leader Sander Press
Points Person TP Points Person TP
7 Gilmore 8 3 Nixon 10
4 Gilmore 8
0 N/A 8 8 Franklin 10

The worksheet records the points each operator receives for a worksheet that
they need to complete. The first row is the position the operator is working,
the first col is the allocated points, the 2nd is the operator's last name,
and the 3rd is the total amt of possible points. The operators rotate jobs
frequently, so their names appear under more than one position. There are a
total of 6 possible jobs. I have shown two, leader and sander press. The
data can't be sorted in its original format b/c the data extends over 18
columns. There are 3 worksheets of data, one for each shift. It is possible
for a person to work more than 1 shift, thus they can appear on any
worksheet. I need to calculate their performance percentage, by adding all
allocated points and dividing by the total possible points.

Let me know if you need more information.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ok - I think I understand.
Here's what I would do...
I'd change the format of each sheet so there is an
additional column for operator position(leader, etc.) so
that all your data is located in 3 columns + 1 additional
column for the operator position. Then have each sheet do
a sumif, with the name as a criteria and the total points
as the sum (and the actual points in the 2nd sumif)

Once each sheet is completed, you can add all sheets
together by name and divide the 2 numbers.
