Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Hello,
When I want to import data in excel from another file, I have to use the function text to columns. in Pop up sceen 2/3 I can't insert the vertical "dash", as I could wiht my windows-PC (Keyboard Alt GR "1").
This sign is not on my Apple keyboard, and the paste/copy seems not to work in this pop-up screen.
How can I fill this sign in this screen 2/3 of this text-to-column function?
Thanks in advance!

I'm not certain that I'm 100% clear on what character you mean but if this
is the one ( | ) it's called a 'vertical bar' or 'pipe' and most definitely
is on any Mac keyboard I've ever used... That's how I was able to type it
here :) It's the upper register character on the same key as the
'backslash' or 'reverse solidus' ( \ ) directly above the 'return' key & to
the right of the right square bracket ( ] ).

Also, you can paste but in foreground dialogs you must use the shortcut
keystrokes. The standard stroke for paste is Command+V.

Thanks Bob for your reply.
also backslash and right square bracket are not marked on any key on this keyboard.
but meanwhile I found this vertical bar using the keys alt+capital+L

Curious??? What style of keyboard are you using? One designed for a language
other than some flavor of English? The keys you mention are standard
characters which are required in many apps, so they should be included even
on laptops/notebooks & condensed keyboards.

When I use Shift+Option+L (is that what you mean by "alt+capital+L?) here on
a Macbook Pro I get a *horizontal* dash identified by Character Viewer as a
'Combining short stroke overlay'.
