This was working fine a few minutes ago then all the sudden it
stopped. None of the drop down lists are working. I have multiples set
up on a sheet. some are accessed locally on the sheet and some draw
from another sheet in the workbook using =Address1 as the Name. But I
can't get any of them to work now! Please Help I have to finish this
project tonight!!!

I'm not an expert and others may advise better, but I think having your data
on another workseet may be the problem

Well you may be right, but I'm not convinced. I just have a memory of
reading in previous newsgroup answers that this was a problem.

Recollect a recent posting by Bob Phillips to try "Open and Repair" in
XL2003. Click File > Open, navigate to folder, select the file, then click
the arrow dropdown on the right of the "Open" button > choose "Open and
Repair". Good luck !

Weird things can happen if your cells with data|validation are merged.

Are they?

No, they're not. Oddly enough, I sent this to my boss and asked him to
check it and he says everything is working fine...???? but it still
isn't on my computer

Have we established what "not working" means?

The DV dropdowns are there but cannot change selection?

The DV dropdown arrows don't show?

Maybe you have turned on Tools>Options>View>Objects> "hide all"

And what version of excel are you using (where it fails) and what version of
excel is your boss using?

If you're using xl97 and have the data|validation above the frozen panes line,
this could cause trouble.

Not working means the drop down arrows show, but when clicked the list
doesn't pop up. I might as well be clicking air.
I'm using excel 2004 for mac and something keeps triggering it. I
figured out 1 of them.

If you have a column of data valitdation cells and you click
autofilter, it disables the lists. Even if you unclick autofilter. I
had to copy and paste the work book to a new workbook and fix all the
formulas.

Checked out the site, Dave. I think I used to have similar problems with
Office 97 and I thought it was due to the data being on another sheet. Ever
since I change that I had no more problems. I think too that naming ranges
tends to slow down calculations, but again that was on an early version.
Maybe the later versions handle this better and I'll test that for sure.
