Database corruption on Windows Vista systems

I have a database that I developed using Access 2003 and Access 2007 on
a Windows XP computer. It is in Access 2003 format and it runs just fine
on XP and Server 2003 computers running either Access 2003 or Access 2007.

When I try to use it on either version of Access on a PC running Windows
Vista the database keeps getting corrupted. The error messages seen are
"Unrecognized database format"
and
"Not a valid bookmark".

I don't use bookmarks anywhere in my database which has very little VBA
code at all.

At the moment I cannot find any references to these error numbers or
strings anywhere in the MSKB website (support.microsoft.com). This is
just another example of the glaring incompetencies of that website seen
many times over searches for information for different products, Google
is superior but it always finds the information in sites other than MS
Support even though it has a special search function for microsoft.com

I am not seeing any other files or documents getting corrupted on my
Vista PC, just this Access 2003 database.

These are common corruption symptoms. See

for a thorough discussion in how many types of corruption can be prevented and
some of them cured.

One common cause - not exclusive to 2007! - is noisy or inconstant network
connectivity. You don't perchance have a wireless network connection to this
machine do you?
