Database Daemon (Not Responding)

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

All of a sudden, over the past 2 days, I am basically unable to use Entourage. I try to open the application, it makes a connection to the Exchange server and then hangs. When I use Activity Monitor, I can see that Microsoft Entourage and Microsoft Database Daemon are listed as not responding.

I have already deleted my Identity and started over, but the same thing happens.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Do you have an old version of Office installed? 2004 maybe?? It might
have the daemon from 2004 running.
Otherwise, try launching Entourage (if you can - maybe after a reboot)
and turn Notifications off in the Entourage menu to see if it corrects
the problem.

Hi Corentin,
I don't have an old version. I installed 2008 when I got my new MacBook Pro and Mac Pro desktop. I am having the same errors on both.

I turned off the notifications and it is still locking up. I will try deleting the database and user identity, thankfully all my data is up on our Exchange server, so it's not that critical locally, but it's a pain that I've had database issues more frequently than I have ever had on Outlook PST and OST files.

Thanks for your help,

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check Startup Items. If there is more than one Microsoft Database daemon,
delete them all. Entourage will create a new one. More than one can cause
problems.

Delete com.microsoft.DatabaseDaemon.plist
