I created a database in Microsoft Access and saved it in My Documents. Now
when I go back in to Access to view or make changes to the database the
database won't open. When I try to open the database by clicking on the file
in My Computer the dataabse tries to open the file in a totally different
program on my computer. The file is saved with an .mdb extension. How can I
make it so the default program to open my databases instead of the other
program on my compute?. The other program is called Boulevard. It is an
inventory management program for my small business.

1. Open My Computer.
2. From the Tools menu, choose Folder Options.
3. On the File Type tab of the dialog, locate MDB.
4. Click the Change button, and choose Microsoft Access.

Thankyou. I did what you said so now in My Computer it says .mdb will be
opened with Microsoft Access, but I just tried opening the database I made
and it still treid opening with the other program. Also, I just made a new
database in Access and save it. When I got out of Access, then tried to
reopen the new database it also tried to open the database with the other
program. Have any other suggestions?

If you have multiple handlers listed for the MDB file, use the Advanced
button to ensure that Open is the default, and that msaccess.exe is the
software that opens it. You could even delete the other entry if necessary.

The advanced button isn't listed when I click on .mdb. The only buttons are
new, delete, change, and restore. I did notice when I clicked on some of the
other file extensions the buttons were new, delete, change, and advanced.
What happened to the advanced button for .mdb?

Not sure what else to suggest, unless yo are able to hack the registry, or
figure out how to use the command prompts assoc and ftype.
