Database isn't a database

Using Access 2000 on Windows 2000 computers and we are
having a strange error crop up. The database ran fine for
months and suddenly we now encounter this: "The
database ‘FILENAME’ needs to be repaired or isn’t a
database file.
You or another user may have unexpectedly quit Microsoft
Access while a Microsoft Access database was open. Do you
want Microsoft Access to attempt to repair the database?"
If you are the only one accessing the database at the
time, it will allow you to repair it; however, hours later
(or sometimes the next day) the error comes back.
Also, if you get in and then exit normally, it sometimes
holds the computer name in the Lock File as if you are
still in the database.
Has anyone seen this before? Can this be fixed?
Thanks for your help.

Kenny,

Not sure my suggestion will solve your problem, but
there's a good chance... and it's free, so why not give it
a shot? Try to create a new, blank database and import in
it everything from the old one. It might well do it.

Best of luck,
Nikos
