I have a split database in Access 2002 in which the
tables reside on a central server and each user has a
copy of the front end on their own hard drives.
Occationally a user will try and enter the database and
they will get a message saying they cannot open the
database because it has been "placed in an exclusive
state by user [computer name]". This happens randomly
with random people and sometimes we can go weeks without
it happening. Lately it has been going on more often and
it is with only one of the many databases I manage (all
of which are set up the same). Also, many people are in
the database when this happens and they are unaffected
unless they close out and try to re-open. Any ideas how
a user could be getting exclusive access to a database
while others are in it also? Any help would be great!
