Database Model Diagram - Visio 2007 Professional

Hello, I have seen three posts regarding an issue with Visio 2007 on a 64 bit
system. However, I have not found an answer to the problem that I am having.
I have installed Visio 2007 Professional on two different computers now, and
when I try to create a Database Model Diagram - the program just hangs and I
have to kill it. Both systems are 64 bit. Does anyone know if Visio 2007
Professional is not supported on 64 bit Operating Systems, or if there is a
fix for this behavior?

System one - Windows XP Professional 64 bit with the latest Service Pack
System two - Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2 with the latest Service Pack

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Office 2007 and Visio 2007 are not officially supported on 64-bit Operating
Systems, but we definitely want to hear about problems you experience in
this environment. Do you have additional details? Do you just have to open
the template? What printer are you connected to? All this would help
identify the root cause.

Hi Mark, thank you for your interest and support. I just have to open the
template and I am selecting the US template to be specific. I am connected
to an HP Deskjet 5650 which is networked through a Windows XP Professional
computer on the Windows 2003 Server R2 machine. I am connected to an HP 6980
wireless which is also networked through the same Windows XP Professional
computer - it does have SP2 installed. I hope this helps out as I am really
excited about what I have seen from others with regard to Visio 2007 and its
interaction with Project Professional 2007. It would be great to be able to
use it.

Hi again Mark, I have a correction to my post. On the machine where I have
Windows Server 2003 R2 installed, the printer actually is an HP 5650, but in
order to get it to work with the 64 bit OS, it is configured as an HP 990C.
Thought this may make a difference.

Hi Mark,

I thought I would add my configuration to this thread as I'm having the same
problem (I had the same problem the last version of Visio).

I'm running a Dell Optiplex GX620, all I have to do is try to open the
template. I have a HP Laserjet P2015dn printer using the generic 64 bit PCL
drivers.

Any other information you need?

Thanks,
Dave DeCoursey
