This newsgroup is for Q&A related to Microsoft Access, which is an excellent
choice of database software for you to consider. It's not free, but you can
order a CD which includes a 30 day trial for Office Professional Edition, the
version of Office that includes Access:

This is the newsgroup for Access Database a part of the Professional
version of Microsoft Office. It is a fine database program but I would not
call it simple.

I would comment that Access often gets high marks for end-user usability in
comparative reviews. IMNSHO, it is simple if you limit yourself to simple,
end-user functions. But, of course, you soon will want to do more, and the
learning curve is not steep to improve your skills to power user or even
developer level. And you can make those moves without ever abandoning
Access, even to the point of creating client applications to server
databases, such as MS SQL Server, Informix, Oracle, and others.
