Database Utility doesn't see any database to verify or rebuild

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

I just installed Office 2008 and the update.
When I open any app it says there is a problem with the database and use database utility to rebuild it.
However, when I open the database utility there is no database listed in the window to rebuild.
What can I do?

Entourage won't open at all.
Word, Excel and Powerpoint will open after I dismiss the warning.

Have you used Entourage at all since installing Office 2008? If not then
try deleting the "~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2008
Identities" folder where " ~ " is your home folder. Then log out and log
in again or restart your computer.

I am having the same damn issue. It takes forever to open word,
powerpoint, and excel, and then it gives that warning of a corrupt
database. Then when I try to resolve the issue with the database
utility, no database is found, so I can't continue further than the
opening screen. I don't use Entourage, so I don't know if the issue is
there as well. Will deleting that folder help with the database issue?

Hi Ryan!

Deleting that folder will get rid of any Database that has been created.
That's why you should only do it if you haven't used Entourage 2008.
Otherwise, you stand to potentially lose E-mail data.
