Database

I need to create a database for residential and commercial alarms. I have one
database that Im using for a client that was made already but the new client
will not work for this. I need to know what would be the easiest way to
create this type of database. It always hase to keep track of the alarms so
that we can bill accordingly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Neal

Neal,

Start on paper and draw a simple flow chart of what you want the database to
do. Work at this until you have sketched the logic of what needs to be in
the database. Next make lists of information that needs to be in the
database. Be sure each list pertains to only one entity or topic. Next
develop tables from the lists and at the same time refine the field names. I
recommend that you use an autonumber for the primary key of each table. The
next step is to review your tables (still on paper) for where one-to-many
relationships exist. For each of these you need a foreign key in the many
table. Make the foreign key the same name as the primary key in the one
table. Now you can begin with your database. Create a new Access file and
create all the tables in that file. Next create another new Access file.
Click on File - Get External Data and link to all the tables in the first
Access file. Now create all your forms, reports and associated qyeries in
the second Access file. If you run into any trouble, post to this newsgroup.
In the alternative to all this, contact me at my email address below if you
want my help. I can create the database for you for a very reasonable fee.

Neal,

Ignore that JERK Arno R. He's doing the same thing to many responders in the
newsgroups.

Wrong Steve, you are the one and only person I am responding to in this way.
A week ago you told me this: So what's up now ??
I got seven projects from the newsgroup in the last four weeks. Three were
the result of my responses on the newsgroup AND four (YES 4) were the result
of you advertising for me. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!
