datas of one Excell sheet will automatically updated in other workbook

Dear All,

I have some datas in a sheet named "2001" of an Excel file(work book) named
"orders", the same is located in "C:\LOCAL"

My MD is in need of the same data but I am affraid if he may delete or alter
any data in that file. So I need a separate file other than the above - may
be the file name is "Copy of Orders". What I want to have is when I make
entries in my sheet ( "2001") the same should be updated in the other file
specifically for my MD.

Can any help please.

4 different options.
Now these are options that won't be updated live.

1. Send him a copy by email. It's in the "File" menu. - or -
2. Close the file. Keep your copy in c:\Local. Make a copy and put it
somewhere he can get to it, on the local network but no longer in
C:\local. - or -
3. Make a new shared folder on the network and save the file there where you
can get to it and he can get to it but set up the folder share and security
properties so he won't have permission to modify it. - or -
4. Install a free PDF printer on your machine and print the Excel file into
the PDF file. Give him the PDF file.

Is it really an Excel problem ?

Dear Gloria.

Thanks for your immediate reply. All are noted. Thanks.

But I want to have a formula like the below so that two files will be there.
If I feed date on the first file it will automatacially updated in the
second file.

=([orders.xls]2001!C10)

................... like wise.

Any idea please.

Hi No News,

If you are talking about accidental changes then just make
the file read only.
If you are talking about deliberate changes then you are
into issues that are way beyond Excels capabilities.
