Date automatically updated in business letters

Not sure which group to ask this in. I am using Word XP 2002.
When I go back to look at business letters that I have sent
out, the date in the heading is automatically updated to
todays date. I want it to keep the origianl date that I
wrote the correspondance, how do I change this?

You need to use the CREATEDATE field rather than the date field. If you put
a CreateDate field in a template, when you open a new document based on the
template, the current date is installed and it will not update. In your old
documents, substitute the date with the CreateDate.
