Date field on Custom Properties Windows

Yall

I am developing a new stencil with a shape containing a date field in its
properties. It just happens that any date prior to 12/30/1899 becomes
12/30/1899!

How can one use the date field and type a date such as 3/25/1896?

that's a MS operating system issue, visio uses the operating system data
functions.
