Date Fields

Marlon

Does anyone know of a way to create a template with the
date fields remaining blank until something is entered in
it. My gut feelings is tat the fields are controlled by
the constraints and will default to todays date if nothing
is entered. Appreciate your response.

Hi Marlon,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Your gut feelings are correct - there must be a start date for all tasks. I
suggest you set up the tasks, durations, predecessors, etc and then, when
you open up the template to create a new project, you can use the Adjust
Dates macro button on the Analysis toolbar.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://www.mvps.org/project/

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on:)

Thanks Mike. Any knowledge on retrieving corrupt data from
MS Project 2002. I saved a file and when I tried to open
it but MS Project said it did not recognize the file
format. Tried renaming, changing the extensios but to no
avail. Any assistance provided would be appreciated. The
data is important.

I can't give you any hope,Marlon :-( If you can't open it you're really
scuppered. You do have a backup don't you ;-) Maybe someone else has some
secret formula.

Marlon,

We have had some success in retrieving corrupt data and built a couple of
in-house utilities for the job. Send me your file and I'll have a go for
you. I can't guarantee anything only that we'll try !
