I have A date 21-aug-2004
What would be the formula to subtract 28 days please.

XL stores dates as integral offsets from a base date, so one way:

A1: 21-aug-2004
A2: =A1-28

Format A2 as a date.

If date is in cell A1
then
=A1-28
and format this cell to date

If the date is in B2 then =B2-28 will give you 24-Jul-04
