Date function question

I have a date in cell A1. I would like the date in
cell B1 to reflect the prior year date base on cell A1.
The results in cell B1 should consider leap year. How do I
do this?

check out the DateDif function at Chip Pearson's website ... there's a
discussion on how it works with leap years at the bottom of the page

Have you tried =A1-365 ?

Have you tried EDATE(A1,-12)?
