date incompatibility from 2004 to 2008

Please help
I am copying data from an excel 2004 worksheet to a new excel 2008 worksheet. A date entered as 8/1/2006 and formatted as 8/1/06 shows in a new 2008 worksheet as 2/2/10. I have updated all updates and am running 12.1.4

I figured this out - if i go to preferences and Uncheck the Calculation Use the 1904 date system checkbox it now shows correctly.
