Date is automatically changed to current date in Word 97

Sometimes when a Word document is opened with the date
typed into the doc, the date gets changed to the current
date. How do I stop this from happening?

Hi Jim,

Use the CreateDate field (Insert/Field) rather than Insert/Date and Time.
