Day and Time Format

I would like to format a cell as Day:Hour:Minute. I tried DD:HH:MM but
doesn't seem to work. I would like to use this for transit time,
Days:Hours:Minutes. Please help.

You'll have to be more specific than "doesn't seem to work". That format
seems OK to me. What's the problem?

Exactly what are you trying to accomplish? If you enter the American style
date (mm/dd/yy) and a time, such as 2/9/2008 6:01:05 pm, you will get
dd:00:00 (9:00:00) with your formatting. Are you trying to get: 9:06:01??

What version of Excel are you using, Tyro?

With Excel 2003 and your input of "2/9/2008 6:01:05 pm", I see 02:18:01 or
09:18:01 depending on whether my Windows regional settings call for
dd/mm/yyyy or mm/dd/yyyy. I'm intrigued as to why your settings should give
9:00:00 instead of 09:18:01?

When I replied earlier to the OP, I should have said that I wouldn't
recommend the dd:hh:mm format, as it could readily be confused with
[hh]:mm:ss, so perhaps something like dd hh:mm would be better, but if the
OP particularly wants dd:hh:mm I don't see why it doesn't work for him (or
apparently for you).
