Daylight Savings Time

Hello,

Does anyone know if the change to Daylight Savings time will have any
effect on MS Project Server 2003.

Thanks in advance,

Marc

Hi Marc,

What is that based on? I know Microsoft has released patches for XP SP2,
Server 2003 and Exchange 2003 SP2 only. I also saw some issues noted with
SharePoint and that there can be a lot of issues with Outlook calendar
items. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/timezone/dst2007.mspx

I'm working on a list of things we need to figure out before March 11, 2007
and Project Server is one of them. Frankly, it kind of scares me that
Exchange apparently has its own calendar computation routines rather than
using the OS.

Thanks,

Ray

On the Outlook page, they talk about a DST tool built into Outlook 2007 and
a tool for earlier versions that will be released around January 2007.

"Microsoft has incorporated a new feature into Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
to help adjust calendar items affected by time zone changes. For other
releases of Outlook, Microsoft will release an Outlook Data Update tool.
This tool is tentatively scheduled for release in January 2007; this content
will be updated when it is available."

I'm really hoping that Project will not need an update, however given that
Microsoft has failed to release an update for Project Server 2003 that
addresses their Eolas patent loss (the "click here to activate this ActiveX
control" nonsense), I am not optimistic.

Note that Microsoft is saying that customers should hold off on
deploying the OS-related DST 2007 changes until the Outlook Data Update
tool is available. There is a webcast scheduled for 18 jan where
hopefully Microsoft will settle the questions about exactly what
versions of Outlook will be supported by the Outlook data Update tool.
It would also be timely to actually release the tool!!!

Also note that your unsupported Microsoft OS versions can be handled by
the tool available at:
http://www.sharpebusinesssolutions.com/dst2007.htm.

Hello.

I see that Project (and Project Server) are not included in the DST
remediation list. However, Project Server does make use of Windows
Sharepoint Services (WSS) - for workspaces. I'm guessing the version of my
WSS - when I clicked on Help (while going through Administration/Windows
Sharepoint Services) it said it was v2.0. So, project server needs to be
remediated for WSS (assuming you're using it for workspaces - as opposed to
pointing to Sharepoint Portal Services, etc.). Would that be right?
