DayOfYear Function?

Is there anyway to return the day number of the year. For example, where
12/26/2003 would be = to 300.

=A1-DATE(YEAR(A1),1,0)

If you are referring to the Julian calendar (I'm not sure because in the
Julian calendar, 12/26/2003 would be 360 not 300), all you have to do is
subtract 12/31/2002 from your date and format the cell as a number with 0
decimals.

A1 12/31/2002
B1 yourdate
c1 b1-a1

A1 12/31/2002
B1 12/26/2003
C1 360
