DB connection

I have a person that keeps getting unconnected to the database. He doesn't
know it is happening and forms look ok so he has lost data. Right now he is
the only one doing entry to this db. Is there anything in access that could
cause it to do this. I suspect the network connection but cannot prove it.
Today he got a message saying access encountered an error and then it
repaired and backed up the database. I am confused about this. Doesn't
access write to the record as you tab to the next field?

Access MDB is crap

you need to move to Access Data Projects

if you really want to get this done; and you want it done right-- then
email me at [email protected]

Is he getting any "Disk or Network Connection lost" messages? Are there any
messages?

If so that's almost always a hardware problem. It might be a network driver problem
but that's unlikely.

See the Corruption causes page at the Microsoft Access Corruption FAQ at

That's a different problem.

No, unless you have code in behind the form. Access writes the record when you move
to a new record or close the form or click on the record selector field to the left
of the form. Note the symbol on the record selector area. If a pencil then Access
knows that there are updates on the form. If a triangle then nothing to save. If
the stop symbol (circle with diagonal line) that means the record (or page) is
locked.

btw; it's not like my name is a bad word or something

just because I am the only one with the balls to stand up for the real
world?

Access MDB just doesn't cut it anymore

I'd rather just use pen and paper-- because MDB is _THAT_ unreliable
