DBASE TABLE LINKAGE

I'M TRYING TO IMPORT AND LINK A DBASE TABLE TO NEW MICROSOFT ACCESS TABLE.
ACCESS ALLOWS THE LINKAGE BUT DOESN'T ALLOW ME TO OPEN SYAING ITS LOOKING FOR
THE ASSOCIATED INDEX. THE INDEX FOR THE DBASE TABLE HAS THE PROPERTIES AS AN
ACTIVE SERVER DOCUMENT BUT ACCESS DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THIS FILE TYPE. HELP!
