dbf files won't import or link

Hello All:

Access 2003, Windows 2000 Pro, SP4 fully patched as far as WUD can tell.

One of my associates tries to import or link to a .dbf file from one of our
suppliers. When this file is clicked, Access 2003 responds:

"Index not found, OK or HELP" Clicking on HELP shows:

"Index not found. (Error 3015)
You tried to use a value that is not an index. You can determine the valid
index names by looking in the Indexes collection of the TableDef object".

It does not matter if the import type is db3, db4, db5 or ???, the error is
the same.

The .dbf imports into Excel 2003 correctly.

There are 6 of these files, comprising a data set. The smallest has about 5
records, the largest about 260,000. It does not matter which of the tables
one tries to import or link.

Help is greatly appreciated.

Hi John:

Thanks for your help. I messaged my associate who said that did the trick.
