Dcount criteria

I need to complete a dcount criteria in a single cell rather than 2
lines. Any thoughts anyone. I have 8 multi-select list boxes which
would build up a complex formula.

Example
Name
Jason or Martina

The only other alternative is write the whole lot in a vba function.

why not use SUMPRODUCT. e.g.
=SUMPRODUCT(--(A1:A1000={"Jason","Martina"}))
